Eleven Kuki militants arrested

DIPHU, SEPT 19 : Eleven hardcore cadres of Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) were arrested by Bokajan Police from Moisa Killing village in Singhason hill track Monday morning.

The cadres were moving from Manipur through various jungle routes to reach Kuki dominated Singhason hill track situated at the centre of Karbi Anglong district.

The arrest was jointly made by officers of Army intelligence and Assam Police. Superintendent of Police Karbi Anglong, Anurag Agarwal informed that “50 to 60 armed KRA cadres are operating mainly in Singhason area who have migrated from Manipur, adding the militant outfit under suspension of operation status in the state of Manipur, operating in Singhason locality for domination of Kuki locality could not be tolerated.

Agarwal also alleged that along with KRA another Kuki outfit, United Kuki Defense Army was also active in the area to gain supremacy adding KRA and UKDA were continuously carrying out factional clash for dominancy in Kuki inhabited areas. Karbi Anglong police has described Monday’s arrest as a major success in their operation against Manipur based Kuki militants operating in Karbi Anglong.
