Five people, including two security personnel, were injured in a blast
triggered by suspected militants in Assam’s Tinsukia district Thursday
evening, police said.
Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) L.R. Bishnoi said that the
blast took place near Gandhi Murti Chowk in Doomdooma township in the
district around 6.40 p.m.
“Five people were injured and they have been shifted to a local
hospital,” Bishnoi said while adding that among the injured, there was a
police constable and a Home Guard.
He also confirmed it to be an improvised explosive device (IED), which was planted near a police check post.
The hands of militants belonging to the anti-talk faction of the United
Liberation front of Asom (Ulfa) had been suspected behind the blast,
police said.
