GNLA ultras abducts another M’laya contractor

Armed Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militants abducted another contractor from Kherapara area in Meghalaya’s West Garo Hills district, police said Thursday.
Dipok Saha, the contractor was abducted last night by 12 GNLA militants from Kherapara while returning to his hometown at Dalu from Tura, the district headquarters of West Garo Hills, police said.

 Though, the GNLA militants is yet to claim responsibility, police said, preliminary investigation revealed that the GNLA militants were behind the abduction.
“Our preliminary investigation points out the involvement of GNLA behind the abduction,” a police official said.

 A fortnight ago, the GNLA militants had abducted another contractor Abdul Rashid on ransom of Rs fifty lakh from Haldibari village while he was inspecting the ongoing construction of a bridge in the area.

Police are yet to identify the whereabouts of both the contractors, even search operation to rescue the abducted contractor is on. The GNLA is a militant group led by a former police officer-turned rogue operates in Garo Hills region of the state.
