GUWAHATI, Aug 31 – The hard line faction of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), headed by Paresh Baruah, today alleged that the Government of India was going all out to please Bangladesh to ensure that the ULFA general secretary Anup Chetia can be forcibly brought back to India against his wishes.
In a release here today, the publicity in charge of the anti-talk faction of the ULFA, Arunodoi Dohotiya said that the Government of India should have made same kind of efforts to solve the burning problems of Assam, including floods, infiltration of foreign nationals, etc.
The ULFA hardliners hit out against Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and warned him to stop working against Assam and its people. The ULFA strongly opposed reported move to hand over Assam's land to Bangladesh and said that the outfit would never tolerate such a move. The Chief Minister should have strongly opposed any such move but instead of doing so, he supported it, the release added.
The ULFA said that Gogoi does not have the courage to take a bold stand in the interest of Assam by going against the wishes of the Government of India and in the past he even accepted several anti-Assam decision of the Government of India, including construction of mega dams. “The Government of India has not yet put any pressure on Bangladesh to take back the illegal Bangladeshi nationals staying illegally in Assam and that is why the ULFA has been saying that the burning problems of Assam would never be solved under the colonial rule of India. India signs agreements and then the people would have to give blood again for the implementation of the accords and agreements.”
The ULFA also called upon the people of Assam to strongly resist any move of the Government of India which would go against the interest of Assam.
